Pediatric Orthopaedics
Pediatric orthopaedics is the medical specialty that concentrates on the diagnosis and treatment of a child’s musculoskeletal system — the complex system of bones, muscles and joints that provide structure and movement to the body. At Kentucky Children’s Hospital, pediatric orthopaedics services are provided by pediatric experts at UK Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine, in cooperation with Shriners Hospitals for Children Medical Center – Lexington. The collaborative pediatric orthopaedics program between Kentucky Children’s Hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children Medical Center – Lexington is ranked 40th in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
Children with bone and joint problems face a number of unique concerns, because they respond to musculoskeletal issues and treatments differently than adults, both physically and emotionally. In addition, children’s bodies are still growing, and they need special attention to ensure proper healing and development. Our specialists offer the comprehensive care your child needs.
