Personal Statement

As a former collegiate football player and current recreational athlete I know what it is like to suddenly be unable to perform due to injury. Having had multiple surgeries I know the fear and anxiety that the young athlete faces in these times. The skilled surgeons who allowed me to return to the playing field continue to inspire me to do the same for my patients. I am committed to using state of the art tools to get athletes of all ages back to the activities they enjoy and to continue to allow them to reap the benefits of a healthy active lifestyle.

When Morehead State University men’s basketball player Tyzhaun Claude felt a snap during practice last year, he knew immediately something was wrong. The snap was his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tearing. He also tore his meniscus and sprained his posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL). The painful injury was season-ending for the sophomore. But Morehead State’s team physician, Benjamin Wilson, MD, a sports medicine specialist performed Claude’s ligament reconstruction surgery, and repaired the torn meniscal structures.  Grateful the for the care be received, Claude now feels he’s almost 100% back.
