Fetal Care Program
The Fetal Care Program at Kentucky Children’s Hospital is here for any expecting mother whose baby has been prenatally diagnosed with a congenital disorder, or birth defect. Our goal is to provide the highest quality of multidisciplinary care to pregnant women and their families in a timely and comprehensive manner.
Previously, families had to visit multiple subspecialty clinics on different days. Our new unified program will allow you to see your entire care team during a single visit. This new program creates opportunities for effective coordination of care before and after your baby is born.
This “mother-first” program educates, supports and empowers families to learn about their child’s condition and discuss plans and goals of care with Kentucky’s leading pediatric providers.
What to expect
During your first visit to the Fetal Care Program, you will:
- Complete fetal imaging
- Tour the UK Birthing Center and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Kentucky Children’s Hospital
- Our NICU is the only Level IV unit in the region, meaning we are equipped to care for the tiniest and most critically ill babies.
- Meet with a multidisciplinary team of experts trained in your baby’s congenital disorder
Why choose UK HealthCare for fetal care?
The Fetal Care Program at Kentucky Children’s Hospital is the first of its kind in Kentucky. For women with high-risk pregnancies, our program provides streamlined access to high-quality care that is close to home.
