Make an Impact on the Future of Cancer Care

When you give to Markey, you become a partner in our mission to make cancer a thing of the past.

Patients who come to Markey don’t have to hope for the best in the face of cancer. Here, they have the best. We are the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center within nearly 200 miles, and we continue to make advancements in the way cancer is understood, diagnosed and treated.

Our challenge is real. Each year, Kentucky sees more than 30,000 new cancer cases and loses more than 10,000 people to cancer –  one of the highest cancer burdens in the country. But we are making progress: Kentucky now has the nation’s 2nd highest lung screening rate, and we have active outreach and training programs in the hardest-hit areas of the state, including Appalachia.

Through precision medicine, clinical trials and comprehensive care, we’ve given hundreds of thousands of people their best shot at a long and healthy life. One out of three cancer patients in Kentucky gets some of their care through Markey. We can do even more.

But we need your help. That’s why we’ve launched a $90 million philanthropic initiative to transform cancer care for the region. With your help, we can:

  • Continue to invest in the brightest minds to research big ideas and translate them into the cures of tomorrow
  • Ensure that the programs inside our cancer facilities provide the highest level of care and support for our patients
  • Grow our extensive outreach efforts to prevent cancer and promote the best patient outcomes

Together, we can make a profound and lasting impact on stopping cancer. Join us by making a gift to the UK Markey Cancer Center or the Markey Cancer Foundation today.

Volunteer at UK HealthCare

Just like donors, volunteers help provide critical support for patients and families. If you would like to give back, support patients or learn more about the health care profession, consider volunteering with UK HealthCare at Markey.

Adults 18 and older are encouraged to join us. There’s also a yearly summer program for teens ages 14 to 17. Volunteers commit two hours a week with no maximum. Schedules are flexible and adapted to your lifestyle.

Volunteer support is resuming in select areas, using a phased-in approach. Interested in becoming a volunteer? Contact UK HealthCare Volunteer Services for more information.
