UK HealthCare’s Specialty Pharmacy & Infusion Services (UKSPIS) team recently earned reaccreditation through two prestigious health care accrediting bodies
URAC granted UKSPIS full Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation Version 5.0 and reaffirmed the pharmacy’s designation as a Rare Disease Pharmacy Center of Excellence. ACHC also granted full Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation as well as Infusion Pharmacy Accreditation, Ambulatory Infusion Center Accreditation and Pharmacy Distinction in Oncology.
“The reaccreditation of UK Specialty Pharmacy & Infusion Services is a demonstration of our continued commitment to meet the health care industry’s most rigorous standards for quality, safety and patient care,” said Debbie Duckworth, PharmD, BS, CSP, senior director for UK Specialty Pharmacy & Infusion Services.
“It is gratifying to see that URAC and ACHC recognize and confirm the excellence of our staff and the quality of our services,” Duckworth said. “As a patient of UK Specialty Pharmacy & Infusion Services, you can expect to receive comprehensive support and state-of-the-art care through every step of your journey, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.”
For both URAC and ACHC, reaccreditation is a lengthy process. Each accrediting body conducts a thorough review of operations, including committee evaluations and onsite visits, in order to determine eligibility. Requirements differ by organization, but the intent remains the same: to prove that a health care organization’s commitment to meeting high standards results in a greater focus on patient care. UKSPIS must continually operate at a level of quality, integrity and effectiveness consistent with the standards of each accrediting body to achieve reaccreditation.
“Patients can have peace of mind knowing that the expertise of our pharmacists, nurses and patient care coordinators is backed by two nationally recognized accrediting bodies and multiple reaccreditations,” Duckworth said.
This achievement reflects the pharmacy’s pledge to maintain the highest standards of quality while delivering excellent patient care.
