Maternal-Fetal Medicine
Though the vast majority of women will experience an uncomplicated, low-risk birth, that’s not the case for everyone. Approximately 10%–12% of pregnancies are considered “high risk” because complications are present that place the mother or baby’s health or life at risk.
However, with careful management, even high-risk pregnancies can result in healthy outcomes. Specialized care from a team of expert providers, such as the UK Maternal-Fetal Medicine team at UK HealthCare, can make all the difference. Maternal-fetal medicine experts can provide the interventions necessary to give mothers-to-be and babies the extra support they need throughout pregnancy, delivery and, importantly, postpartum when concerns still exist.
