International Clinic
Making a new home in Kentucky, far away from your home country, isn’t easy. And if you’re pregnant or the gynecological care is very different from what you are used to, or you have a language barrier that makes it difficult to seek care, the experience may be uncomfortable.
The UK HealthCare international clinic at the Polk-Dalton Clinic offers solutions for these unique circumstances. Each week, our providers offer OB-GYN services with both on-site and remote interpreters and translators, with care specifically attuned to women in the greater Lexington area’s immigrant and refugee community.
Monday from 8 a.m. to noon
Care You Can Understand
Most of our in-person interpreters are from your own countries. They understand both your language and your culture. We regularly offer interpreting services in:
- Arabic
- French
- Kinyarwanda
- Nepali
- Spanish
- Swahili
If we cannot find an in-person interpreter for your language or your appointment, we may use an online translation service. Every translator follows HIPAA guidelines to protect your confidential health information.

Our Care Respects Your Culture
At UK HealthCare, we are culturally sensitive to your needs throughout your pregnancy or treatment. We respect all religious and cultural beliefs, and we always work to ensure you feel comfortable getting care. If an interpreter is in the room with you during an examination or procedure, they will be on the other side of a curtain, unable to see your body. The interpreters are not involved in your medical care at all.
Affordable and Safe Care for All Immigrants
We accept multiple health insurance providers, but we also treat anyone regardless of his or her ability to pay. If you are uninsured, we offer financial assistance and flexible payment plans.
Your care is not dependent on your immigration status. Everything about your prenatal care and healthcare is confidential.
