About
Scottie Day is a respected clinician with a wealth of knowledge regarding pediatric critical care. A graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, Day completed his residency at Indiana University, Indianapolis and his fellowship in critical care at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. During the 2008-2011 period, he served on cardiopulmonary resuscitation committees at both Indiana University and Kaiser Moanalua Hospital, Honolulu. He was also actively involved in the development of the Pediatric Early Warning System (PEWS) at Kaiser Moanalua Hospital.
Since arriving at UK HealthCare in 2011, Day has been a team leader for the Kentucky Children’s Hospital ECMO team and pediatric cardiology strategic planning. Scottie was a core member of UK HealthCare Congenital Heart Taskforce, currently chairs the Kentucky Children’s Hospital Mortality and Morbidity Committee and is the physician director for the Pediatric Transport Team.
Day has a growing national and international reputation. In March of 2013, Day was appointed to the National Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Expert Work Group (part of Affordable Healthcare Research and quality (AHRQ) – CMS CHIPRA Pediatric Measurement Center of Excellence (PMCoE). He also serves internationally on the Danitas Children/Southland Christian Advisory Board, Haiti, charged with the development of the children’s hospital and clinic and is a cardiac intensivist volunteer with the International Children’s Heart Foundation.
Personal Statement
Growing up, I always knew that I wanted a career that involved serving others. Becoming a physician at Kentucky Children’s Hospital has enabled me to do that. We work together to tailor our care around what the child needs and what the family needs.
