Dr. Kaushal joined UK HealthCare in 2020 as a Professor of Radiation Oncology. She earned her medical degree magna cum laude from the 6-Year Integrated Combined Degree Program at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Kaushal was inducted into the medical honors society Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) while in Boston, a distinction for those graduating in the top tier of their medical school class. Dr. Kaushal did a funded research fellowship at the National Cancer Institute/National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland and then completed her residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Previously, Dr. Kaushal was an Associate Professor, Medical Director and Director of the Multi-disciplinary prostate Clinic at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD. At NIH/NCI, she provided radiation oncology expertise for all patients but was particularly focused on pediatric patients through a consortium with Children’s National Medical Center, as well as prostate and bone marrow transplant patients. Dr. Kaushal was a faculty member and mentor for the combined National Cancer Institute and Walter Reed National Naval Medical Center resident trainees in Radiation Oncology. After leaving Bethesda, Dr. Kaushal practiced at the Veteran Affairs (VA) Hospital at Lake Nona/ University of Central Florida in Orlando where she took care of the nation’s military veterans.

Dr. Kaushal’s professional interests include eliminating health disparities, mentoring the next generation of oncologists and treating patients in a holistic and evidence-based manner.

She is currently a Professor of Radiation Oncology and serves as the Assistant Dean for the Rural Physician Leadership Program at the University of Kentucky.
