Reinhold Munker is Professor of Medicine at the University of Kentucky in Lexington where he works in the Division of Hematology and Blood & Marrow Transplantation. His basic science interests are broad (from proliferation of leukemic cells to microRNAs to autoantibodies in cancer). His clinical research spans late effects of cancer treatment to epidemiology and rare types of leukemia. He treats patients with benign and malignant blood disorders and is involved in immunotherapy and stem cell transplantation. Dr. Munker’s research has resulted in more than 140 publications and 19 books and chapters of books.

Personal Statement

I enjoy working in a team. Often we deal with complicated issues where several options are available. I bring more than 30 years of experience into the diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders and will help our patients to find the best approach.

    Dr. Munker saved my life. He oversaw my care for rare leukemia, CMML, always knowledgeable, kind, listens. He is an excellent hematologist. Helped me thru my stem cell transplant 2021.

    The fellowship physician was attentive and seemed to listen. Dr. Munker was dismissive. He took one step inside the room, asked if I was experiencing the same issues, stated he had no answers, handed me my labs and said that he would see me next year.
