Clinics & patient services

At UK HealthCare, we believe that all patients should have a fair opportunity to reach their highest health potential.

That’s why we offer the following services and clinics to serve the diverse communities of Kentucky.

Why We Screen

When you come to an appointment at our clinics, we ask screening questions to learn more about your life and health. Where you are in life can impact your well-being.

We ask questions about your social needs. Examples include safe housing, transportation, neighborhoods, discrimination, violence, education and job opportunities.

This helps us find the community resources you need. We ask because we care.

Clinica Amiga

Located at Kentucky Clinic South, Clinica Amiga offers comprehensive pediatric primary care for the Hispanic/Latino community of Lexington. Providers and staff speak English and Spanish, and qualified medical interpreters are available both on site and remotely.

The goal of Clinica Amiga is to bridge language and cultural barriers by providing care that is informed by cultural sensitivity and understanding in order to address the health disparities in our community.

Polk-Dalton Clinic

The UK Polk-Dalton Clinic was named in honor of two African American physicians from Georgetown, Dr. John Polk and Dr. Rufus Dalton, both of whom helped blaze a trail to deliver health care in downtown Lexington.

The Polk-Dalton Clinic provides health care with compassion for Lexington's Northside and urban community. The clinic offers convenient medical services for the entire family, specializing in primary care, wellness and prevention, and care of patients with chronic medical conditions.

The UK HealthCare Perinatal Assistance and Treatment Home (PATHways) program is also housed at Polk-Dalton. This program delivers prenatal care, substance use disorder treatment and recovery support to expecting mothers.

Transform Health

Transform Health is a partnership of UK HealthCare providers who have the shared goal of meeting many of the unique medical needs of people who identify as LGBTQ*.

Part of our Family and Community Medicine division, the Transform Health Clinic at UK HealthCare – Turfland launched in 2016 to provide a safe, affirming environment and services tailored to the needs of LGBTQ+ individuals in the Bluegrass region. Transform Health outreach services are also provided at the Phyllis D. Corbitt Community Health Center in Wilmore.

On the University of Kentucky campus, Transform Health services are available for UK students at the University Health Service.

Community Impact Office at Markey Cancer Center

The Community Impact Office (CIO) at the UK Markey Cancer Center leads Markey’s community outreach and engagement functions. This office works on collaborations to accelerate health equity and reduce the cancer burden in Kentucky.

The Community Impact Office also works with partners and programs across Kentucky to further cancer prevention and education and to make cancer screening more accessible to those who may not otherwise have an opportunity to receive a screening.

Access to clinical trials at Markey

Through extensive research and the participation of volunteers, clinical trials help us advance treatments and medications that will ultimately save lives.

The Community Impact Office collaborates with the Markey Clinical Trials Office to develop strategies to improve access to clinical trials for minorities.

Language Services

All patients at UK HealthCare have the right to an interpreter at no cost to them. Our Language Services team facilitates communication between patients who need interpreter services and their healthcare providers.

Utilizing the skills of our full-time on-site staff and our contracting agencies, the Language Services team offers on-site language services at UK HealthCare hospitals and clinics throughout the state. The team can interpret about 250 languages.
