About

Dr. Zahara Haghighat is a fellowship-trained pediatric neurologist at the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute who specializes in the diagnosis and management of epilepsy in children. She focuses on refractory epilepsy, which is a type of epilepsy that is difficult to control with standard medications.

Dr. Haghighat performs scalp video EEG monitoring and intracranial EEG studies to better understand and manage complex seizure conditions. Children who continue to have seizures despite trying multiple anti-seizure medications, or those with epilepsy and abnormal MRI findings, are often referred to her for further evaluation.

She takes a detailed, methodical approach to each case and works closely with families to ensure the best possible outcomes. Having trained and worked at UK HealthCare for over a decade, she values the strong interprofessional collaboration and is proud to be part of a team dedicated to delivering exceptional care to children and their families.

Dr. Haghighat completed her medical education in Iran and moved to the United States in 2007. She went on to complete her residency in child neurology at the University of Kentucky from 2012 to 2017, followed by a pediatric epilepsy fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
