I arrived in the United States in 1994, having studied medicine and started training in ophthalmology in England. My University of Kentucky ophthalmic research years and residency training consolidated my ophthalmic knowledge. I was invited back to my alma mater after a year of fellowship training in Boston in cornea and external diseases.

My time at the University of Kentucky has been very rewarding in my role as a provider for the people of Kentucky and teacher for our residents. It was an honor to be Residency Program Director from 2006-2016 and chief of the VAMC Ophthalmology Service from 2002-2015.

I am now excited to have joined the University of Kentucky GO Program to extend my services internationally.

Personal Statement

I was drawn to medicine from a very young age for the impact a doctor can have on the life of their patient and so pursued that single mindedly. Being an eye surgeon came from watching the profound impact cataract surgery can have on the life of an individual.

I believe people should be well informed about their problems so they can be involved in their treatment. I go out of my way to explain patients' conditions and choices they have to them so they can make informed decisions about their management.

Outside of medicine I love learning about and from my residents, growing plants, experiencing different foods and cultures and, hence, travel.
