Nicholas Biondi, DO

Dr. Nicholas Biondi specializes in general cardiology and advanced cardiovascular imaging at UK HealthCare. His clinical expertise encompasses a broad range of cardiac modalities, including cardiac echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, cardiac CT and cardiac MRI. 

Dr. Biondi earned his medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine. His postgraduate training began with an internship at CarePoint Health Bayonne Medical Center in Bayonne, N.J., followed by an internal medicine residency at Campbell University’s Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, N.C. 

Dr. Biondi then completed a general cardiology fellowship at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he gained comprehensive experience in clinical cardiology. 

Recognizing the increasing importance of advanced imaging in cardiovascular diagnosis and management, he completed an advanced cardiovascular imaging fellowship at UK.

Dr. Biondi’s research interests are primarily focused on the pathophysiology and clinical implications of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, the mechanisms and assessment of myocardial diastolic dysfunction, and the innovative application of 4D Flow Cardiac MRI for the non-invasive evaluation of cardiovascular hemodynamics. 

Dr. Biondi contributes to both clinical care and academic advancement in the field of cardiology. He currently serves as faculty for the General Cardiology and Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging Fellowship programs at UK.

My focus is on providing compassionate, patient-centered care by utilizing advanced imaging and clinical expertise to diagnose and manage cardiovascular conditions. I believe in empowering patients with knowledge and tailoring treatment plans to their individual needs, ensuring they receive the best possible cardiac care here in Lexington.
