Initially, I thought that the resident did a good job talking to me about the procedure. One thing that they could've done a better job talking to me about before the procedure was letting me know that I would be staying in the clothes that I wore for the procedure. This is because to sterilize the area they use iodine and they also have you take down your pants to expose the hip area. One of the text yanked on my pants, which pulled on my already painful hip. I would've worn more comfortable pants so that it was easier to expose the hip if I knew that a gown was not gonna be provided. I also dressed in nice clothes because I was going to work right after the procedure and because they were using iodine, I would not have worn nice clothes because of the risk of them getting stained. I think this information should have been provided before the appointment. The other thing that happened during the procedure and why I don't think that the resident or the doctor did a good job and I would not want to go back. There is that I was in pain during the procedure and I was dealing with that pain the best way that I knew how by breathing and making noises. During the procedure, One of the doctors, I don't know if it was the resident or the attending, said, I've never seen anyone act like this. Do you want me to stop? Everybody's going to experience pain differently, and you shouldn't compare my reaction to pain to anyone else's. It would have been more appropriate to say that it seems like I'm in a lot of pain and you're worried and would I like you to stop. But making me feel like I'm doing something wrong because of my supposed inappropriate pain level is really wrong. They also did not give the numbing medicine any time to work so I don't know why they think that I shouldn't have been in any pain. I also was in a lot of pain up to the procedure. Where they were doing the injection had been in so much pain a few days before that even just rubbing it at PT was painful so yes, I was in pain. Don't make statements to me that make it seem like I'm not allowed to be in pain. The whole experience was incredibly demeaning.
