Dr. Matthias Loebe is a highly experienced cardiothoracic surgeon specializing in advanced heart and lung disease at UK HealthCare. With over 35 years in the field, his expertise includes heart and lung transplants, mechanical support systems – including left ventricular assist devices (LVADs), artificial hearts, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). He also performs routine heart and lung surgeries and provides comprehensive care for a wide range of patient needs.

Dr. Loebe’s involvement in transplant care began early in his career, during the formative years of the field. Over the decades, he has contributed to its development and expanded access to these life-saving procedures for countless patients. His passion for advancing medical innovation and delivering exceptional care continues to drive his work.

At UK HealthCare, Dr. Loebe is part of a collaborative team dedicated to providing world-class care, including to patients in remote areas of Kentucky.
