About

Leah Winer, MD, is a surgical oncologist at the UK Markey Cancer Center and an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery. She treats various forms of cancer, including breast, gastrointestinal, and skin and soft tissue cancers.

Dr. Winer has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in leading surgical and oncology journals, covering topics such as disparities in surgical training and cancer treatment outcomes. She also has presented her research at national and international surgical conferences. During her fellowship, Dr. Winer received funding for her work exploring the relationship between immunohistochemical status and pathologic complete response in HER2- overexpressing breast cancer. She also received a grant to study cancer patients’ perspectives on pre-operative therapy and surgery.

Outside of work, she enjoys weightlifting, dance, vegetarian cooking and college basketball.

I am dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized care to each of my patients, combining the latest advances in surgical oncology with a deep commitment to their unique needs.
