Islam Elgendy, MD, FACC, FAHA, FSCAI, FSVM, is an interventional cardiologist at UK Gill Heart & Vascular Institute. Dr. Elgendy completed his internal medicine residency along with fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He went on to complete a vascular diagnostic and intervention fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Elgendy is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is an author of 400 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals. He also serves on numerous national committees through the American College of Cardiology, Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention, and the Society of Vascular Medicine. Dr. Elgendy’s clinical expertise is predominantly in coronary artery disease, acute coronary syndrome, cardiogenic shock, and acute pulmonary embolism.
