About
Irada Ibrahim-zada, MD, PhD, FACS, FSSO, is a board-certified surgical oncologist at the UK Markey Cancer Center. She is also an assistant professor in the UK Department of Surgery.
Dr. Ibrahim-zada earned her medical degree from Azerbaijan Medical University in her native country, Azerbaijan. She completed her general surgery residency at the University of Colorado and residencies in general surgery and surgical oncology at Central Clinical Hospital in Azerbaijan. She also completed a fellowship in complex general surgical oncology at the Roswell Park Cancer Center (University of Rochester) in New York. Dr. Ibrahim-zada obtained a PhD in laboratory medicine and pathobiology with a focus on breast pharmacogenetics at the University of Toronto in Canada, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in breast cancer pharmacogenomics at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
Dr. Ibrahim-zada was previously a surgical oncologist at St. Elizabeth Cancer Center in Edgewood, Ky., where she served on the oncology research council and was the Commission on Cancer liaison physician. She also taught medical students at the UK College of Medicine – Northern Kentucky Campus. Dr. Ibrahim-zada is the author of numerous peer-reviewed articles and presentations on a range of cancer and surgical topics.
She is passionate about providing care for underserved communities. Her focus is on expanding treatment options for locally advanced and metastatic breast and skin cancer patients through clinical trials and building a center of excellence in Merkel cell carcinoma in Kentucky.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, working on finding balance in mental and physical wellbeing, doing Pilates and exploring outdoor events with her kids.
