About
Gerardo Heredia Melero, MD, is a specialist in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. He earned his medical degree at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Mexico.
Heredia Melero completed his internship at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago and his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University, also in Chicago. He went on to complete a female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery (FPMRS) fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Heredia Melero is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in both obstetrics and gynecology and FPMRS. His clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery, obstetric fistula, vaginal reconstruction for pelvic organ prolapse, sacral nerve neuromodulation and urethral bulking injection.
Personal Statement
I like this field because it’s rewarding and satisfying. I can help patients return to their normal lives and be socially active again instead of prisoners to their genitourinary conditions. A simple procedure can change their quality of life significantly, and you can see results right away. It’s very gratifying.
