About

Dr. Mannino is a Co-Founder of the COPD Foundation and serves as one of its Medical Directors.

Dr. Mannino was formerly the chief science officer of the Centers for Disease Control's Air Pollution and Respiratory Health Branch. While at CDC he was the lead author on key publications reporting on the epidemiology of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. He has over 300 publications in leading peer-reviewed journals on topics that range from the epidemiology of lung disease to health effects related to air pollutant exposure.

Dr. Mannino is an active member of and adviser to several professional organizations, including the COPD Foundation, the USCOPD Coalition, the National Lung Health Education Program, and the Alpha-1 Foundation. He is an Associate Editor of the Journals of the COPD Foundation and am on the editorial board of Thorax, Chest, AJRCCM, and the IJCOPD.
