  • Personal statement

I have been practicing medicine and taking care of women and their families since 1998 when I started my residency. This is my passion. It has always been an honor to be so trusted by my patients to be part of the team of doctors and nurses who care for them throughout their lives. Delivering babies and performing routine and complex surgeries is incredible, but the times I remember most are those emotional or quiet moments when a patient is at her most vulnerable, where hope is in short supply and the days ahead seem dark. In those times, when patients need a trusted, skilled doctor to hold their hands while we figure out together a comprehensive plan to ensure that she or her baby is the healthiest possible, is what I have trained a career for and want to be there to care for those women.

I left feeling like I truly had a doctor that cared about me as a person and not just a number. Very good manners and helping me to feel at ease and calm. I feel like whatever I face he will be able to take care of me.

During my IUD insertion, I was not offered any pain relief. When I asked, he explained why and it wasn't needed and that pain of injection was the same as the IUD. He finally requested pain relief meds (that they were out of) and I had to deal w/inadequate pain control. While at another clinic, my 1st IUD insertion was painless because of adequate care and pain relief. I felt belittled for even bringing it up.

To date, I have not heard back from anyone in Dr. Flower's practice concerning pap smear results or blood work.

The visit lasted 5 minutes, before I could finish my sentences and the point of my visit could be communicated, I was interrupted and Dr. Flowers rushed outside of the room.

Prior to coming to this office, I have had traumatic experiences with the OB, I researched a ton before picking this office and I came across Dr. Flowers - he had kind eyes and his mission statement really touched me, so I decided to come to his office to see if he could help me (because it seems for the past 15 years no one would listen to me and didn't have any solutions for the pain I have been in). From the moment I walked into the office, Dr. Flowers staff showed me compassion and listened to me. When Dr. Flowers found out what I needed done - he immediately worked me in for the procedure (I knew they were busy and told him we could schedule it out / but he still worked me in to get it done so I could just go ahead and get it over with). He absolutely listened to me and my concerns, he showed empathy and he was 100% doing everything he could to get all the test ran so he could begin a more permanent resolution to my issues. He was so kind and truly seemed to listen to me and I was not treated like just a number as you are in most offices. My mom came with me to that visit and when we left I cried, not sad tears, but happy tears because I finally felt heard and I knew he was going to help me! Thank you so much Dr. Flowers!

Seems rushed- waited longer than time spent with doctor. This visit was a follow up appointment regarding being diagnosed with gestational diabetes and when Dr Flowers came in all he did was listed for heart beat and was like all good and started to leave. Never mentioning anything about GD. When I stopped him I said aren't you going to look at my log? He quickly glanced said all good diet controlled and left. Felt very impersonal and wasted my time like I did not matter and I didn't have any time to ask questions and never was asked if I had any questions or concerns

He didn't seem to care about my concern on possibly having PID ( which the ER diagnosed me with the Monday prior to my appointment) he just said it was GI related based on my scans from the ER. But did ZERO examinations, nothing didn't even noticed my blood pressure was high due to the pain I've been in. He did refer me to a GI specialist but I'm upset he didn't do his own evaluation considering the severity of both diagnosis

He was rude and dismissive of my concerns. He told me he would answer any questions if we had to biopsy the area. When it turned out we needed the biopsy he could not be bothered with my questions or concerns. He lied and told me I wouldn't feel a thing and then when I told him it did hurt quite a bit he said yeah but it's over.

Felt rushed. He did not explain what my condition, just gave me non-answers/vague descriptions. After a rushed examination he decided my course of care, decided to cancel another appt. I had previously scheduled to discuss my results, decided that I'm against surgical options (I am not, in fact I'd prefer to just have a hysterectomy).
