UK HealthCast: Diabetes Prevention Program

UK HealthCast is a podcast series featuring interviews with UK HealthCare experts on a variety of health-related topics.
On this edition of UK HealthCast, Erica Hill, a Diabetes Prevention Program lifestyle coach at UK Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center, explains prediabetes and how to recognize if you're at risk.
Read below for a brief summary of Hill's conversation.
What is prediabetes?
Prediabetes affects millions, yet often goes unnoticed due to its lack of symptoms. It is marked by elevated blood sugar levels (A1c between 5.7 and 6.4 or fasting glucose between 100-125) and, if untreated, can progress to type 2 diabetes.
Risk factors include age, inactivity, family history, high blood pressure, and weight.
How the UK Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center can help
