Skin disorder experts convening in Lexington for annual meeting
The PanAmerican Society for Pigment Cell Research (PASPCR) will hold its annual meeting in Lexington in September.
PASPCR is a group of scientists, clinicians and other researchers/educators who study pigmentation, melanocytes, melanoma and skin complexion disorders. The event will be held at Hyatt Regency Lexington, Sept. 22-25. It will be offered as an in-person event with online (hybrid) capability.
Dr. John D’Orazio (Markey Cancer Center, UK Pediatrics and PASPCR president) is scheduled to host the event, which is being organized by Terry Keys (Markey Cancer Center Educational Liaison).
It is anticipated that about 100 scientists from the Americas and possibly overseas (depending on the state of the coronavirus pandemic) will attend. Participants will include specialists in melanocyte development, melanoma therapy (including immunotherapy), cell signaling, metabolism, transcription, carcinogenesis, vitiligo and albinism. We also expect officials from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), representatives from the pharmaceutical industry and numerous trainees will attend.
