Safety is about incorporating prevention strategies and proper precautions into every day living. The National Safety Council has declared June as National Safety Month, with the purpose of increasing public awareness of the major safety and health risks that are highly prevalent at work, on the road and in our homes and communities.
- Traffic accidents kill nearly 1.3 million people in the U.S. annually.
- Every day in the U.S., about 150 people are killed in work-related accidents.
- Drownings are the second leading cause of accidental deaths in children between the ages of 1-14 and most occur in home pools.
- Lack of supervision is the primary cause for nearly half of all playground injuries.
Injuries can be prevented when simple steps are taken to help keep each other safe. The National Safety Council has great resources to keep you and your family safe available at www.nsc.org.
