Emergency Department
The UK Chandler Emergency Department has four areas for specific types of patients: Level I trauma for the most critically injured adults and children, acute care for seriously ill or injured adults, Express Care for those with less urgent conditions, and the separate Makenna David Pediatric Emergency Center for children.
Parking for our Emergency Department (ED) is located across South Limestone in our hospital garage. We provide a free shuttle service to and from the garage 24 hours a day, every five minutes. Please inform the driver you are going to the ED so you can be dropped at the appropriate stop. A small parking lot at our ED entrance has a 30-minute time limit. This can be used to drop off passengers prior to moving the car to the garage. Please speak with a security officer when you are ready to return to the garage for your car.

About Albert B. Chandler Hospital
Opened in 1962, the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital, a 569-bed acute care hospital, is part of the UK HealthCare patient care enterprise.
UK Chandler Hospital has Central and Eastern Kentucky’s only Level I trauma center and handles the most severe traumas. It has the only Level IV neonatal intensive care unit in the area to treat the sickest infants.
The hospital also offers 100 intensive care beds, a post-anesthesia care unit, 17 operating rooms,14-bed labor and delivery, and 26 mother-baby rooms. The hospital draws upon the resources of six UK colleges: Medicine, Nursing, Health Sciences, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Public Health.
