Facial Plastic Surgery - Cosmetic Procedures

Smiling woman

Botox

BOTOX® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA), a prescription medicine, is a purified protein that temporarily improves the look of moderate-to-severe frown lines between the brows in adults younger than 65 years of age.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple nonsurgical treatment that is injected directly into the muscles between your brows. It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles, therefore reducing muscle activity that can cause persistent lines to form between the brows.

Cheek augmentation

Cheek augmentation involves reshaping the cheekbone structure through surgical procedures or injectable fillers.

A deficient cheek structure can make your face appear drawn and gaunt, and it may contribute to an aged look under the eyes and heaviness in the lower face. On the other hand, cheeks that are too large or fatty can also make a person’s face appear heavy. Full, pronounced cheeks give people a youthful and healthy overall appearance.

Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers are substances injected just below the surface of the skin to fill in lines, wrinkles and scars. Unlike face lifts, which stretch the skin, fillers add volume for a more natural, youthful appearance. Fillers can also increase the fullness of the lips and minimize the downward slant of the corners of the lips.

The most common areas treated are the smile lines around the nose and mouth, fine lines above the mouth, frown lines between the eyes and acne scars.

Eye rejuvenation

A loss of volume around the eyes can make people appear tired, worn and even older than they actually are. Surgery does not always improve this, and it can actually give certain individuals a hollowed-out appearance.

Dr. Patel offers fast, minimally-invasive, in-office recontouring rejuvenation procedures that require no anesthesia to perform.

Face lift (Rhytidectomy)

As you age, the skin on your face and neck begins to loosen. A face lift is a surgical procedure that improves these signs of aging. Other rejuvenation techniques such as dermal fillers may be combined with a face lift to get the most natural look possible.

A face lift can help give you a more refreshed and youthful appearance, but it cannot stop aging or turn back the clock. Before surgery, Dr. Patel meets with each patient to discuss factors including basic bone structure, skin type, ethnic background, skin elasticity, individual healing and a realistic attitude about results.

Forehead/brow lift

For many people, the forehead and brow area show the first signs of aging. Wind, sun and the pull of gravity all impact the face, resulting in wrinkles across the forehead, frown lines and an increasing heaviness of the eyebrows. Signs of aging can be noticeable even on people who are in their thirties, making them look older than their years.

To address these issues, many people opt for a procedure known as the forehead lift. Based on technological innovation and on variations in how women and men age, different methods are used to perform this procedure. The result can be a smoother brow and a more noticeably youthful expression.

Full skin analysis

All patients have the opportunity to receive a full skin analysis using the VISIA™ Complexion Analysis System. This state-of-the-art digital skin analysis system identifies problem areas of your complexion, allowing for a customized skin treatment program that specifically targets these areas.

The VISIA™ Complexion Analysis System is the first diagnostic tool to provide clinical measurement of irregularities and pigment conditions both on and under the surface of your skin. The system’s photographic technology captures a clear, multidimensional image of the highlighted facial areas while also examining the severity of various age-related conditions, including:

  • Skin tone evenness (color variation)
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Hyperpigmentation (age/ dark spots)
  • Porphyrins (evidence of bacterial growth)
  • Enlarged pores
  • Sun damage (UV spots)

The results of a full skin analysis can help you create a personalized facial rejuvenation program that is designed to obtain optimal improvement in your skin color and texture. Once your VISIA™ analysis session is complete, you will receive a detailed complexion report that focuses on specific problem areas and compares your results with others your age.

Lip reshaping

Your lips lose collagen and shrink as you age. Many people choose lip enhancement or reshaping procedures to counteract this process or to achieve the look they have always wanted. Lips can be reshaped to correct any asymmetries and to give you a more prominent cupid’s bow.

An attractive set of lips is often more about shape than volume. People who feel that their lips have always been too thin and flat can generally find remedy in lip rejuvenation, which can be done either as a permanent treatment using a lip implant or a temporary treatment using injectable fillers.

Mentoplasty (Surgery of the chin)

A well defined chin helps give balance to the face and creates a major part of one's profile. When people look in the mirror, most focus on the size and shape of their noses, their ears, sagging jowls or fine wrinkling of the skin. But even though few examine their chins with the same discerning eye, having a "weak chin" is certainly not an asset. Surgeons who specialize in rhinoplasty, or surgery of the nose, are often the first to suggest that changes in chin size or shape may enhance a profile as much as rhinoplasty.

It is common for the facial plastic surgeon to recommend chin surgery in addition to nose surgery when the surgeon sees that chin augmentation is necessary to achieve facial balance and harmony.

Neck lift

Aging of the neck typically results in a combination of loose skin and muscle and excess fat. There are a variety of procedures available to enhance and improve the appearance of the neck ranging from minimally invasive in-office treatments with no down time to surgical procedures requiring anesthesia and recovery time.

The neck rejuvenation procedure appropriate for you depends upon your desired results and individual circumstances.

Rhinoplasty (Nasal contouring)

Nasal contouring is a surgical procedure that can resize or reshape your nose. Because the nose is the most defining characteristic of the face, even the slightest of alterations can produce dramatic improvements in one’s overall appearance.

Many people request nasal contouring because they are unhappy with the nose they were born with, they dislike the way aging or injury has altered the appearance of their nose, or they want to improve their breathing.

Nasal contouring is of great interest to Dr. Patel, and he has broad experience in the field.

Otoplasty (Cosmetic ear surgery)

For some, no other characteristic cries out for plastic surgery like protruding ears. Even if the ears are only mildly distorted, the condition can lead to self-consciousness and poor adaptation in school. Adults may also benefit from this procedure, which improves self-esteem with relative ease.

Often, adults choose this surgery in conjunction with other facial plastic surgical procedures. It is possible to not only pin back ears, but also reshape, reduce size, and make ears more symmetrical.
